Re: <VIDEO>The Nightmare Is Over >> For Russ Cooper
Karen....There wasn't another one arrested for this and without saying too much, there should have been.???? We all know the truth about the situation, but Russ was merely a scapegoat. He apparently was wearing his sign that day that said,"PICK ME!".
Thank you Karen for your support and well wishes.

Re: <VIDEO>The Nightmare Is Over >> For Russ Cooper
It's only because I did NOT know of the situation, and ALKY filled me in a while back.
It's evident that you know way more about what did or didn't happen, and probably lots of more folks on here do also.
I was "outraged" when ALKY posted on here, letting me know what had happened. I did question authorities, and in the meantime was told there was a second person arrested.
It wouldn't be the first time I've been lied too!
And Moe, thanks for the video, it helps when you can put a face to the whole thing.
It's crystal clear that all they wanted Mr. Cooper for was to discourage the recall process.
Over the years, any time I've known that there's been a problem with petitions, they were simply discarded.
EX: Years ago, Tom Phillips signed a petition, then turned around and said he didn't sign it, or the person wasn't who they said they were....give or take what you want....the entire petition was thrown out, and after all, that was the goal. As for the person carrying it...not to my knowledge was anything even said too them.
This has to have been a terrible , uncalled for ordeal for Mr. Cooper, but I was advised that there was another person "with" Mr. Cooper passing the petitions, and I was also told another was arrested, but maybe it wasn't for the same thing? Anyway, I was curious for no name was given to me either.
Actually, now that this is an established case, the road runs both ways. I took the charter and the I think, councilperson Thatcher's petitions to the BOE, where they agreed that the then Solicitor was not allowed to be on his committee to re-elect , nor pass petitions. (And that was the case with several councilpersons).
But....the 2 year limitation had just ran out...so...there may be more good come from this for the future.
Bottom Line though, from what I DO know, this whole thing should have NEVER happened.
So, still Best Wishes
and Glad it's over!

Oh and Karen for the record Robin was taken to the police station and questioned and given a hand writing analysis as well as another individual i wont mention, if they want their name revealed i will let them do it themselves, but I was the only one arrested hope this clears up the mystery.

Re: <VIDEO>The Nightmare Is Over >> For Russ Cooper
Mr. Cooper and Ms Campbell,
It never ceases to amaze me how quick news travels!
The "name" of the other person was offered up to me on a platter. lol
No, I am not going to say his name either, like you said, if he wants to be a man and come forward,(like he's accused councilpersons of Not doing), then let him.
I seriously doubt it will happen though, for I'm kind of shocked right now, I've known this person since we were young in Church.
I say this because, you stood your ground, and that's to be commended. When you stand in front of court, council, etc., you have the right to look them in the face and ask them to stand up!
Plea bargaining was positively the most sensible thing to do. I can't even imagine any person going to jail over petitions....not knowing what I know
But, since they won't apologize, I will!! And in doing so
I will leave it up to the other guy, those are your wishes and I will definitely honor them!
Pat yourselves on the Back!
Peace Always,
Karen

Raw deal Coop but you are right a trial would only have been a waste of time, we all knew you were innocent from the start. When the deck is stacked back away from the table

Re: <VIDEO>The Nightmare Is Over >> For Russ Cooper
I have been watching this whole thing and pretty much keeping my mouth shut as I really don't know the players that well. But, Mr. Cooper, if you are happy with this outcome, then so be it. Frankly, I don't think you did anything and I also think there is so much more problems within our local election process where prosecutions COULD be legitimate, that this was used only as a way to discourage citizens from either running for election or attempting to recall someone.
Honest opinion: If those issues including the Martings Purchase had went the other way, I think they would have dropped the charges all together....this was called REVENGE, SOGP style.

Re: <VIDEO>The Nightmare Is Over >> For Russ Cooper
Hopefully somebody knows the answer to this because I'm curious. How can a person be denied being able to pick members of the jury?I've always known it to be that both the defense and the prosecution interviewed they jury pool and each side got to chose 7(6 jurores and an alternate) so is it even legal to deny a person this right?
I also agree with Bgreene, the charges were about revenge. It's the cities way of having a temper trantrum at an innocent persons expense.
